My feelings and my intuition decide. I stay far from the subject and close to the emotion that each scene reveals. I let chance guide the creation of the work. We can say that gradually and at the end of the process which is a path of creation, the work decides itself and a kind of truth of the work is created.The whole is lyrical figurative because i seek to suggest emotions and let the feelings express themselves and it is poetic by its dreamlike form sought and expressed..
Poetic Figurative Lyrical painting process
I often start from one or more photos that i associate and combine for a work (the face or a places i love, extracted from a personal catalog of beauties which inspires me, or from catalogues of painters of ancient or contemporary history). They serve as starting point. I don't copy them because i don't paint what i see but what i feel. When i am painting i practice a succession of irenration perception/feeling. I am guided in the work by an intuitive search. I seek tones and balances. Then i set up détails and shapes, i add supplements if needed. I also try to suggest whithout too much detailing the works. I sometimes completely reorient a painting by erasing or repainting it. I use all technical means to arouse emotions : color, scratching , painting, erasing, drippings etc..
Example of creation
I like to find and adopt shapes and colors that i didn't have the idea at the begining of the work. The words of Paul Klee, Pierre Soulages and Patrick Bléron match me : "What i do teaches me what i'm looking for"
Like this last person i don't work trying to excute an entirely preconceived and preview idea but i seek to build from my inside , from a chosen material, a general idea, a feeling, even a constraint (often an old painting under..) or a rule of the game, has the condition to be willing to trangress this rule if the need arises ...
